A Colorful Cuban Delight in Mount Dora: Las Palmas Restaurant Review

Visited on: 08/02/24

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Las Palmas Restaurant in Mount Dora offers a vibrant and inviting atmosphere,

characterized by its colorful and traditional Cuban décor. The ambiance is both charming and comfortable, creating an enjoyable dining environment. During our visit, we found the service to be exceptionally friendly and attentive. The staff ensured that we had everything we needed and checked on us regularly, enhancing our dining experience.

We ordered the Palomilla Steak Sandwich and the Habana-Tex Tamales. The steak sandwich was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly, although the bread tasted slightly

stale, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, the fries appeared to be frozen, which was a minor letdown. I would rate this dish a 7/10.

The Habana-Tex Tamales had an excellent texture, and the portion size was generous—

ideal for sharing. The melted shredded cheese could be improved with a queso sauce for a richer flavor. The rice was moist and well-cooked, and the plantains were perfectly prepared. However, the dish could benefit from a bit more seasoning. This dish earned a 6.5/10.

We spent $57 in total, which included food, drinks, and a tip. While it was not overly expensive, it was not cheap either. Overall, we felt the pricing was fair for the quality and quantity of food provided.

The restaurant was clean, and although we did not use the restrooms, the overall hygiene was satisfactory. The highlight of our visit was the refreshing drinks, made with real fruit and offering a delightful flavor.

Las Palmas Restaurant provided a good dining experience with flavorful food and excellent service. While it may not have been exceptional, it was certainly a pleasant place to enjoy a meal, and we would recommend it to others looking to explore the food scene in Mount Dora.
